Be inspired by flowers of all kinds from the English country garden to the hanging gardens of Babylon… As Spring beckons visit Buffalo Botanical Gardens; prepare to be surprised when you take a nano-view at the flowers. Look for interesting three-dimensional forms and collect images that inspire fashionable draped designs. You are designing a draped gown for Spring/Summer 2013 so be mindful of trends in fabric, colour and silhouette.
Virtually visit other inspiring gardens; Monet‘s garden at Giverny, The Humble Adminstrator‘s garden at Suzhou, Vita Sackville-West‘s white garden at Sissinghurst, the palace gardens at Versailles….
Make a flower-themed moodboard. Prepare a full-size drape in muslin. Construct in your chosen fashion fabric. Draw a fashion illustration of your final design.
Grading: moodboard & illustration 25% innovation & trend 10% visual presentation on blog 25% finishing 40%
